MNLF wants OIC to terminate the review of 1996 peace accord

MNLF leader, Nur Misuri wanted the addition of all provisions of 1996 peace agreement. MNLF spokesman Emmanuel Fontanilla said the termination of the review process will unbind the government and the MNLF and allow the CAB to move toward its goal. “The termination of the review will also untie our hands so we could go back to our original political objective which is independence,” he said. The 32-page 1996 peace agreement includes all the Basic Rights, Rights on Sharing of Revenues for Metallic Minerals, Security, Governance, Women and the Indigenous Peoples. The MNLF’s demand was sent to the Egyptian Embassy in Manila, which is chaired by the southern Philippines peace committee of OIC.
