Uma Ramalingam, 42, and Barathi Ravikumar, 40, died after they were dragged into a whirlpool in Teneral. The women were among four families on holiday in the resort of Playa Paraiso.
It is known that, Dr Ramalingam, of Bowdon, Cheshire, and Dr Ravikumar, of Lincoln, drowned last April. The two children they were trying to rescue were saved.
Dr Ravikumar’s twin sister, Dr Poorami Chandrasekaran, said the sea was calm and they had been paddling at the edge when they were hit by three powerful waves . A third wave came causing a whirl pool current next to Dr Chandrasekaran who had said she had seen one of the children caught up in. The news spreads terror in the area and gained media attention as well.
