Islamic States militants financing its new Caliphate by oil smuggling

on 5:59:00 AM
Islamic State militants apprehended four small oilfields when they swept through north Iraq last month and are now selling crude oil and gasoline from them to finance their newly affirmed "caliphate". Near the city of Mosul, Islamic State has taken charge over the Najma and Qayara fields, while further south near Tikrit it overran the Himreen and Ajil fields during its two-day sweep through northern Iraq which was in mid-June. The oilfields of Islamic states are more modest as compared o Iraq’s fields, which are under the control of government and Kurdish. According to Iraqi officials, in recent weeks the militants group has transported oil from Qayara to be processed by mobile refineries in Syria into less quality gasoil and gasoline, and then brought back for sale in Mosul, which is a city of 2 million people.
